Students who are seniors at the time of TSSBDA Senior Clinic are eligible to apply for the Bob Rush Scholarship. An applicant must plan to pursue an Education degree with a major concentration in Music Education, with the intent to become a band director.
Students may apply for the Tom Bailey Scholarship if they are high school seniors at the time of the TSSBDA senior Clinic OR if they are already pursuing an Education degree with a major concentration in Music Education, with the intent to become a band director.
Applications should include:
A. Financial Status
B. GPA and Class Rank
C. Participation in TSSBDA events
D. Interview with Scholarship Board
E. Performance Tape (if requested by the board)
- Scholarships will be in the amount of $1000 per recipient.
- Scholarships will be divided into two checks.
- The first check ($500) is awarded at the beginning of the sophomore year, only if the student is still majoring in Music Education, with the intent to become a band director.
- The second check ($500) is awarded at the beginning of the senior year, only if the student is still majoring in Music Education, with the intent to become a band director.
- Students must submit an award request, along with current transcripts, and contact information for the university's financial aid office, before checks will be sent to the university.
